Unit 1 Section 3 : Using a Flow Chart for Classification
A flow chart can be used to sort things into categories. This process is called classification.
Example Question 1
The flow chart below can be used to classify quadrilaterals (four-sided shapes).
If you follow the flow chart for a particular quadrilateral, it will tell you the shape's special name (if it has one).
Look at each quadrilateral on the right. Use the flow chart to find the shape's
special name (if it has one).
When you have worked out the answer, click on the button marked
to see whether you are correct.
Example Question 2
The flow chart below can be used to classify angles.
The names of each type of angle have been left off the bottom of the flowchart.
Work out the answers to the questions below and fill in the boxes. Click on the
button to find out whether you have answered correctly. If you are right
then will appear and you should move on to the next
question. If appears then your answer is wrong. Click
